Atom & Eva "The Grandparents"

Atom & Eva “The Grandparents”

These two pieces are what started it all…The Matriarch and Patriarch. Over the years they have become the “collectors” of our very special and unique natural items that we have either came across or been gifted.

We learned so much from these first ones. You learn very quick that although you may go into a art piece with a plan, the natural material ultimately tells us how it would like its “faces of nature” to be portrayed.

The response from our friends and family was so positive. We realized that the pieces not only gave us an excuse for us to talk about the materials we used and how we collected them, but by seeing the materials in a new light, used in a way they never imagined, inspired them to get outside more, slow down and stop and look around and see what “faces in nature” they could see.

We were compelled to continue making art in this form for the public because we could see the impact it was making on the viewer. If we are able to make you pause and think about the vastness, beauty and possibilities that nature provides, as well as to realize the importance of balance, and the interconnections of all living things, then we feel like we have achieved a “successful” art piece.

It is important to note that the natural materials we use are sustainable, renewable, and can be acquired without destroying or negatively altering the environment where they are found.
